Yield: Makes 1
Ingredients:
- 3/4 oz commercially prepared mamajuana (like La Tipica Mamajuana)
- 1 ¼ oz light rum
- 1 ½ oz tamarind juice (look for it at your local ethnic market; brands like Goya often sell it by the can)
- ½ oz simple syrup
- Splash of lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite)
- Fresh mint
- 3 small lime slices
Preparation:
- Muddle lime and mint in shaker.
- Combine Mamajuana, light rum, tamarindo juice and simple syrup.
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Pour into glass over ice — top with splash of soda.
Garnish:
- Garnish with mint

Notes:
- Rum & cokes have their place but why not try a rum cocktail with an accent of Dominican mamajuana? Mamajuana – a rum spirit infused with herbs and roots – is mixed with light rum, mint and tamarind juice for a cocktail that’s made even more refreshing thanks to a floater of lemon-lime soda.
